The coilover guide.
Shop the coiloversA ZC72S 1.2 and a ZC32S Sport need their own application checks. Choose the kit around your original car, the wheels fitted now and the suspension movement you need.
A new platform under a familiar shape.
The later Swift kept the upright cabin and short overhangs, but moved to a new platform. A registration year alone can put you on the wrong side of the change. Record the frame code and original engine before choosing a suspension kit.
BC L-12 names ZC72S and ZC32S. Our two TEIN listings name the ZC72S 1.2. A Sport owner should start with its own application instead of copying a 1.2 recommendation, even where a supplier uses the same part number in another market.
Suzuki began building the new Swift in Hungary in June 2010, with European launches planned from September. The European range had a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel. Its longer wheelbase and wider tracks came with a new platform, so the previous ZC31S Sport is a separate suspension application.
The new Sport appeared at Frankfurt in September 2011. It retained the naturally aspirated 1.6-litre M16A and gained a six-speed manual gearbox for Europe. Suzuki's Japanese launch announcement also describes larger front struts and a dedicated rear suspension tune. Match the Sport to its own kit row when planning the suspension work.
A useful road build starts with the tyres and the condition of the original suspension. Worn upper mounts or a damaged spring seat can spoil the result of fitting new dampers. For track days, keep a record of the wheels, ride height and alignment so each adjustment can be assessed against the same starting point.

Our current BC L-12 is the BR RN configuration, with listed default springs of 4.5 kg/mm front and 3.5 kg/mm rear. It supplies no front top mount; check the existing mounts and the listed rear rubber arrangement. For a competition build, discuss spring choice, usable travel and adjuster access with the supplier. Provide the tyres, cage and weight changes before committing to a specification.

A rear spring seat beside the damper.
On a standard Suzuki Swift 2010–2017, the rear spring and damper are mounted separately.
Component layout only. Mounts, dimensions and adjusters vary by kit.The front uses MacPherson struts. At the torsion-beam rear, the spring and damper are separate components. A kit sold as coilovers can therefore have a front spring around each strut and separate rear springs with their own height-adjusting seats.
The rear spring seat and damper length have different jobs. Follow the exact kit instructions for setting the spring seat, spring retention and available damper movement. Applying the front lower-bracket procedure to the rear can leave the car at the wrong height or with unsuitable travel.
Ask the fitter to measure the finished geometry once the intended height is set. Height adjustment does not add a rear camber or toe adjustment mechanism. Any additional geometry parts need their own suitability check.
Understand height and spring preload
Leave room for the suspension to work.
Record wheel width, offset and tyre size before choosing the drop. Check the inner strut clearance as well as the arch, including steering lock and the suspension movement required when the car is loaded. A wheel diameter or a photograph of the stance leaves out too much information.
Inspect front upper mounts and bearings, rear spring seats and their rubber pads. Both named TEIN kits reuse original upper mounts; the BC RN entry supplies no front mount. Include any worn supporting parts in the fitting work, then arrange final alignment at the intended height.
Wheels and tyre clearance
Give us the width, offset and full tyre size, including spacers. Ask the fitter to check clearance at the inner strut and outer arch through steering and suspension movement. Retain enough travel for passengers and the surfaces you use.
Upper mounts and spring seats
Check bearings, rubber mounts and rear spring pads while access is available. TEIN's STD designation means the original upper mounts are reused. Confirm the BC RN contents before ordering replacement mounts or assuming a camber-adjustable assembly is included.
Optional electronic adjustment
For the named UK ZC72S rows, TEIN lists optional EDFC compatibility and requires the rear interior service-hole cover to be removed or modified. Plan that access with the installer. The controller, motors and any required accessories are separate purchases.
A recorded starting setup
Keep the installed height measurements, wheel specification and final alignment printout together. If the car has a cage, altered arms or substantial weight changes, include them when choosing springs. Change damping in measured steps and retain notes so the next change has a useful reference.

Questions about Suzuki Swift 2010–2017 coilovers.
Check the details before choosing your kit.
Does this guide cover the earlier Swift Sport?
The earlier ZC31S Sport has its own application and guide. This guide covers the 2010–2017 generation, including ZC72S and ZC32S. Match the frame code as well as the year because registrations can overlap model changes.
Which kits are currently listed for this Swift generation?
We list BC Racing L-12 BR RN for the named ZC72S/ZC32S application, TEIN FLEX Z VSU86-C1AA2 and TEIN MONO SPORT GSU86-61AS2. Our two TEIN entries name the ZC72S 1.2; confirm the exact application before ordering.
Can I choose either TEIN kit for a ZC32S Sport?
Ask us to check the exact Sport first. Our current TEIN listings name ZC72S 1.2 applications. Additional manufacturer rows for another market do not by themselves establish the shop's application for your Sport. BC L-12 explicitly names ZC32S.
Are the rear spring and damper separate?
Yes. The torsion-beam rear uses a spring on its own seat beside the damper. Front MacPherson struts carry the spring around the damper. Follow the selected kit's instructions for rear spring-seat height, spring retention and damper length.
How far does TEIN recommend lowering the UK ZC72S?
For the named UK 1.2 ZC72S rows, FLEX Z and MONO SPORT recommend a change of -45 to -25 mm at both axles, with a -35 mm reference setting. The maximum adjustment ranges are wider and are not recommended operating settings.
Are new upper mounts included?
Both named TEIN kits use STD upper mounts, meaning the original mounts are reused. BC's RN entry supplies no front top mount and lists a rubber rear arrangement. Check the exact contents and condition of the existing parts before booking fitting.
How do FLEX Z and MONO SPORT differ here?
For the named UK ZC72S, FLEX Z uses twin-tube dampers and 7/4.2 kgf/mm front/rear springs. MONO SPORT uses monotube dampers and 8/5 kgf/mm springs. Both have 16-level combined damping adjustment. Choose around the car, tyres and intended use with the fitter.
Does EDFC need interior work on the ZC72S?
TEIN's UK ZC72S compatibility entries for both named kits require the rear interior service-hole cover to be removed or modified. EDFC is optional and its electronics are separate from the suspension kit. Confirm the controller, motors and installation access before ordering.
What if my Swift is four-wheel drive, diesel or imported?
Have the exact car checked individually. Provide the frame or type code, engine, original market and build date. The current front-wheel-drive starting applications do not establish suitability for every Swift with a similar body.
Let’s talk suspension.
Tell us your Swift's frame code, engine and original market, then add the wheels and the way you use the car. We can help narrow the current kits and confirm the parts that need checking.
