A long-bonnet saloon, with several ways to specify it.

A Giulia can look settled on a good set of wheels without sitting on the bump stops. Bring the tyre sizes, wheel widths and offsets into the discussion before choosing the drop. Leave room for the people you carry and the surfaces you drive over.

The modern 952 saloon has several suspension applications. Rear-wheel drive, Q4 and factory-controlled dampers need identifying separately, including on a Veloce. The Quadrifoglio also has its own listed kit. Keep the older classic Giulia and the Giulietta hatchback out of the parts lookup.

Alfa Romeo unveiled the modern Giulia at its museum in Arese in 2015. Its proportions came from a new rear-drive architecture: a long bonnet, short overhangs and a separate boot. The Quadrifoglio introduced the shape with a turbocharged V6; the wider range brought petrol and diesel choices.

Veloce needs more than a badge check. Alfa’s Paris 2016 introduction described a Q4 Veloce, while the 2017 UK range described its 280 hp Veloce as rear-wheel drive. Check the actual car’s market and driven wheels before choosing a kit, especially with an import.

The front uses double wishbones and the rear an independent Alfa Link multilink arrangement. Worn links and bushes still affect wheel position after new dampers are fitted. Include their condition in the plan, along with any factory electronic damping that the replacement package must account for.

RWD without active dampers

ZR-08 is the listed BR RS example for the matching rear-wheel-drive 952 without factory damper control. Confirm the engine, build details and original equipment. A D.N.A. selector or a Veloce badge alone cannot identify the dampers fitted.

Q4 without active dampers

The current AWD listing is ZR-13, separate from the RWD reference. Check that your Q4 has the stated original damper equipment and match its exact build before ordering. Keep wheel, brake and previous suspension changes in the enquiry.

Active dampers and Quadrifoglio

BC names ZR-14 for RWD with damper control and ZR-12 separately for the Quadrifoglio. Confirm how the exact replacement handles the original electronics and which parts are supplied. ZR-15 needs a separate drivetrain check: its current listing label and BC’s AWD application disagree.

Keep the running height useful.

Read the buying advice

ZR-08 BR RS is the named road example for a matching RWD car without factory damper control. Have that equipment and the engine application confirmed first. Agree the running height around your driveway, regular passengers and wheel package, with enough clearance for steering and suspension movement.

  • Confirm RWD and original damper equipment
  • Check wheels through their movement
  • Agree a usable running height

Describe the tyres and the circuit use.

Read the buying advice

Tell us which tyres you intend to run and how often the car will visit a circuit. Include brake changes, wheel fitment and whether the dampers are electronically controlled. Those details help choose the spring and damper package; a chassis match alone cannot establish the right circuit specification.

  • Describe the intended tyres
  • Include brakes and wheel changes
  • Confirm damping and electronics requirements

Discuss the event rules, proposed weight and tyres with the builder before ordering suspension. Altered mounting points or geometry need reviewing with the complete package. A Quadrifoglio badge does not establish that a catalogue road kit suits a particular competition build.

A separate rear spring, within Alfa Link suspension.

Separate rear spring and damperThe coil spring rests between its own seats, beside a separate shock absorber. This fixed component diagram does not show vehicle dimensions, mounting hardware or suspension movement.SpringDamper

On a standard Alfa Romeo Giulia 952, the rear spring and damper are mounted separately.

Component layout only. Mounts, dimensions and adjusters vary by kit.

The Giulia 952’s original rear coil spring sits on its own lower-arm seat, separate from the damper nearer the wheel. The independent rear links locate the wheel as the suspension moves.

Use the replacement kit’s instructions to identify the spring seats, damper settings and retained mounting parts. Check the condition of the links and bushes during the fitting inspection.

Understand height and spring preload

Set the height around the wheels and the car’s equipment.

Bring the width, offset and tyre size for each axle, including any staggered arrangement and spacers. Check clearance through steering and suspension movement with the load the car will carry. Looking at the outer wheel gap alone misses the space needed inside the arch and around the suspension.

Record the present hub-to-arch heights and identify previous suspension work. Confirm which original mounting parts are retained and how any factory damper controls will be handled. Arrange alignment at the agreed running height, then keep the final measurements with the wheel specification.

Wheels, tyres and spacers

Give the workshop the specification for both axles. Include inner strut or arm clearance as well as the visible arch edge, and allow for the movement and load the car will encounter.

Factory damper controls

Identify the original dampers and confirm the exact replacement’s electronic requirements. A listing for a car with damper control does not by itself explain which functions or additional parts the supplied kit uses.

Links and mounting parts

Have play, worn bushes and damaged mounts assessed before fitting. Replacing the dampers cannot correct wear in the parts that locate the wheels.

Earlier lowering and alignment

Identify the springs and dampers already fitted before comparing lowering figures. Agree the usable height, settle the suspension as instructed and arrange the geometry check with the fitter.

BC Racing

The current BR RS listings distinguish RWD, AWD and factory damper equipment. ZR-08, ZR-12, ZR-13 and ZR-14 have separate applications. Keep ZR-15 as an exact-code enquiry until its drivetrain label is resolved. Confirm supplied mounts, spring rates and electronic requirements for the selected kit; generic range descriptions do not establish those details for every Giulia.

Questions about Alfa Romeo Giulia 952 coilovers.

Check the details before choosing your kit.

Is this the same application as a classic Giulia?

This guide covers the modern 952 four-door saloon unveiled in 2015. The earlier classic Giulia and the Giulietta hatchback need their own stated suspension applications. Match the chassis and exact kit code.

Does Veloce always mean Q4 all-wheel drive?

No. Alfa’s 2016 Paris introduction described a Q4 Veloce, while its 2017 UK range described the 280 hp Veloce as rear-wheel drive. Check the driven wheels and market specification of the actual car.

Which kit is the RWD example without factory damper control?

BCR-ZR-08 in BR RS specification is the named example for that application. Confirm the engine, build details and original dampers before ordering. The Q4 reference is separate.

Will a kit listed for active dampers retain the factory controls?

Confirm that with the supplier for the exact kit. Its application label alone does not explain the electronic interface or included parts. Identify the car’s original equipment and agree how the replacement will work before ordering.

Are the two Giulia listings marked RWD with EDC interchangeable?

Do not substitute them by title. BC’s current table names ZR-14 for RWD with damper control and ZR-15 for AWD with damper control, while the current ZR-15 store label says RWD. Have the exact code and drivetrain checked before ordering that listing.

Does the Giulia 952 have separate rear springs and dampers?

Yes. The original rear spring has its own lower-arm seat, separate from the damper nearer the wheel. The rear links locate the wheel independently. Follow the replacement kit’s instructions for its adjustment method.

Can I use the ordinary Giulia kit on a Quadrifoglio?

Use the specifically stated Quadrifoglio application and confirm the build and damper equipment. BC lists ZR-12 separately. A shared 952 family code does not make the other references interchangeable, or establish GTA or GTAm compatibility.

Does the registration finder account for my modifications?

It helps identify the car. Supply wheel widths, offsets, tyre sizes, spacers, suspension changes and altered electronics separately so the exact application and clearance can be checked.
