Bertone’s coupe, with room for everyday use.

The GT’s long doors and rising rear shoulder suit a clean wheel upgrade. Choose the wheel width, offset and tyre size before settling the height, especially if spacers are already fitted. Bring those measurements to the suspension discussion.

Our current listing is BC Racing ZR-07 BR RS for the front-wheel-drive GT, type 937. Identify the engine and original equipment first. A diesel Q2, a 3.2 V6 and a car already running different springs each need their details checked against the exact kit.

Alfa introduced the GT in 2003, with UK sales following in 2004. Bertone and Alfa Romeo Centro Stile shaped the low coupe body around a practical rear hatch and folding seats. The engine range included four-cylinder petrol models, a JTD diesel and the 3.2 V6. By late 2006, Alfa reported more than 55,000 GT customers in Europe.

The GT used high double wishbones at the front and MacPherson struts at the rear. Its factory spring and damper settings varied within the range. Q2 later added a self-locking front differential to the diesel; it remains a front-wheel-drive application.

For a GT still used through the week, start the suspension work with the condition of the car underneath. Have the front wishbones, rear links and mounting parts inspected, then choose a running height that clears the tyres with passengers and luggage aboard.

ZR-07 BR RS is the listed GT front-wheel-drive application. Give us the engine, build details and original suspension specification so the kit can be checked against your car. The supplier’s year label is not an engine-by-engine fitment confirmation.

The 3.2 V6

Alfa gave the V6 its own factory spring and damper settings. Identify the actual engine and original suspension when enquiring. Confirm the supplied spring rates, mounts and wheel clearance for that car before ordering.

The GT Q2 combined a self-locking front differential with its own factory specification. Tell us whether the car is an original Q2 or has later modifications, and identify the suspension currently fitted. A badge alone cannot settle those details.

Component layout only. Mounts, dimensions and adjusters vary by kit.

The GT’s original rear suspension uses a MacPherson strut. The coil spring sits around the telescopic damper, with an offset spring arrangement. Transverse rods and a longitudinal link locate the wheel.

Check the upper mounts, spring seating and rear links during fitting. Use the replacement kit’s instructions for its height and preload adjustments, and confirm which original parts are retained. Include previous changes to the seats or mounting hardware in that check.

Inspect the car before choosing the final height.

Take the GT’s wheel widths, offsets, tyre sizes and spacer measurements to the fitter. Check clearance at the inner suspension and arch edge through steering and suspension movement. Include any larger brakes when confirming that the chosen wheels clear the hardware.

Have the front wishbones, rear links and mounts inspected while access is available. Record the existing hub-to-arch measurements, follow the kit’s settling instructions and arrange alignment at the finished running height. Keep those measurements with the wheel specification for later checks.

Wheel width and offset

Give the fitter the actual wheel and tyre sizes, including spacers. Check the inner suspension clearance as well as the arch edge before committing to a lower height.

Wishbones and rear links

Have play, damaged bushes and worn mounting parts assessed before fitting new dampers. Include any adjustable or previously replaced arms in that inspection.

V6, Q2 and changed hardware

Identify the engine and original specification, then list later suspension or brake changes. Confirm the exact replacement package against those details.

Final height and alignment

Agree the running height around the car’s normal use and load. Follow the settling procedure and have alignment checked once that height is established.

BC Racing

The current GT listing is BCR-ZR-07 in BR RS specification. BC’s RS description uses rubber upper mounts, with rear-mount exceptions on some applications. Confirm the GT package’s supplied and retained parts and spring rates when ordering. Check how its height and damping controls work before deciding which adjustments you need.

Questions about Alfa Romeo GT 937 coilovers.

Check the details before choosing your kit.

Which coilover kit is currently listed for the GT 937?

The current listing is BCR-ZR-07 in BR RS specification for the front-wheel-drive GT, type 937. Confirm the engine, build details and original suspension against the exact application before ordering.

Why does the kit listing say 02-10 for the Alfa GT?

That is the supplier’s application label. Alfa introduced the GT in 2003 and launched it in the UK in 2004. Use the actual chassis and build details to confirm the kit; the year label alone does not establish compatibility.

Does the GT model name confirm fitment for my 3.2 V6?

Have the V6 application checked explicitly. Its factory suspension settings differed from other GT versions. Confirm the spring rates, mounts and exact supplied package for the car before ordering.

Is the GT Q2 a four-wheel-drive model?

Q2 refers to Alfa’s self-locking front differential. The GT Q2 is a front-wheel-drive car. Identify its original specification and any later changes separately when checking suspension fitment.

Does the GT have a separate rear spring?

The original GT rear strut has its coil spring around the telescopic damper. Alfa describes an offset spring arrangement within its MacPherson rear suspension. Follow the replacement kit’s instructions for its own seats, mounts and adjustments.

Can I choose an Alfa 147 kit because both cars use type 937?

Match the GT’s exact kit reference. A shared type code does not confirm that the mounts, damper dimensions or supplied springs interchange. BC lists the GT and 147 under different references.

How low can I run a GT on larger wheels?

Have the actual wheels, tyres and spacers measured on the car and check clearance through steering and suspension movement. Agree the running height with the fitter around that space and your normal use.

Will the registration finder identify my modifications?

The finder helps identify the car. Provide wheel widths, offsets, tyre sizes and spacers separately, together with any suspension or brake changes, so the application and fitting work can be checked.
