Alpina B3 F30 / F31.
The coilover guide.
Shop the coiloversThe B3 already has an Alpina-developed suspension package. Start by identifying its original dampers and drivetrain, then check whether the listed Bilstein B14 reference applies to your particular saloon or Touring.
A fast saloon, with a Touring alongside it.
Record the dampers and springs already fitted, including any earlier conversion. Wheel size and the finished stance can follow once the replacement package has been checked for the car.
The current Bilstein 47-264625 listing names specific AWD B3 applications without electronic suspension control. Alpina’s April 2013 brochure describes electronically adjustable adaptive dampers. Those are different conditions: ask us to resolve the actual car’s specification before ordering.
Alpina’s April 2013 B3 BiTurbo brochure presented both the F30 saloon and F31 Touring, with a 410hp six-cylinder engine, an eight-speed automatic and an all-wheel-drive option. Fine-spoke wheels, restrained body additions and four exhaust outlets gave the saloon and estate their familiar Alpina appearance.
The brochure describes adaptive Alpina suspension with electronically adjustable dampers and dedicated springs, bump stops and stabilisers. Identify that equipment on your car before replacing it.
The current application rows also name B3 S BiTurbo AWD. Preserve the exact build and body details when checking a kit; the broader B3 name does not make another generation, a diesel D3 or every rear-wheel-drive car interchangeable.

F30 saloon: the listed AWD application
The current 47-264625 rows name B3 BiTurbo AWD and S BiTurbo AWD saloons from March 2013 to August 2018, without electronic suspension control. Check the build, axle limits and actual damping system together.
Check the listed B14 kit
F31 Touring: keep the estate details
The listed AWD Touring rows run from March 2013 to June 2019 and carry the same non-electronic condition. Confirm the exact engine, build and axle plate, including the loads the estate normally carries.
Check the Touring application
Factory adaptive dampers
Have the original damper system identified. The listed kit’s non-electronic condition does not establish a replacement for factory adaptive suspension. Agree the complete mechanical and electronic requirements before buying.
Ask about my adaptive suspension
RWD, imports and earlier conversions
Rear-wheel-drive B3s have a separate manufacturer reference. Tell us about the original market and any changes to dampers, hubs, mounts or wheels. Do not choose the AWD listing from appearance or a shared BMW chassis label.

Road miles, circuit weekends or a car built around the lap. Start with how you drive.
Confirm the damping system first.

Bilstein B14 47-264625 is the current example for the listed AWD, non-electronic application. It combines height adjustment with fixed damping. Check the vehicle and axle limits before considering the finished height, and keep enough clearance for the journeys and loads you use.
- AWD and non-electronic condition
- Fixed damping, adjustable height
- Confirm axle plate and wheel clearance
Define the use before the hardware.
Read the buying advice
Tell us the tyres, braking changes and length of the circuit sessions you expect to drive. The listed B14 has fixed damping, so it does not offer a dial for changing damping between road and circuit use. Discuss whether its application and specification suit the car and the intended work.
- Record tyres and running height
- Check brakes and wheel clearance
- Discuss the fixed-damping compromise
Agree a complete suspension brief.

Give the builder the car’s drivetrain, original damping system, tyres and event requirements. Ask for a matched spring, damper and mounting proposal around those details, with a plan for measuring ride height and setting the alignment.
- Identify the original suspension
- Choose the package with the builder
- Plan measurement and alignment
The rear spring and damper sit separately.
On a standard Alpina B3 F30 / F31, the rear spring and damper are mounted separately.
Component layout only. Mounts, dimensions and adjusters vary by kit.The rear main coil spring has its own seat beside the damper. The Alpina parts references list separate main springs and VDC dampers; the Bilstein kit instructions likewise show a separate rear damper and a spring-height assembly.
Have the fitter confirm the supplied spring seats, height-adjustment hardware and retained mounts for the actual application. Factory adaptive dampers still need their own compatibility check.
Understand height and spring preload
Keep the wheel upgrade usable.
Write down wheel width, offset, tyre size and any spacers before choosing the final height. Check inner suspension clearance, the arch edge and movement with steering and normal loads. A Touring used for luggage needs that use included in the measurements.
Inspect spring seats, pads, mounting parts and bushes during the work. Agree a running height within the kit’s application limits and arrange alignment after the fitting and settling checks specified for the supplied package.
Original damping and previous work
Identify the adaptive equipment and any earlier conversion from the actual parts and build information. A missing warning lamp does not prove that a mechanical kit is appropriate.
Axle limits and everyday loads
Compare the vehicle plate with the exact reference. The current B14 rows list front and rear maxima of 1095kg and 1285kg; confirm every other application condition as well.
Wheel and tyre clearance
Include wheel offset, tyre width, spacers and brake changes. Check movement on the actual car before deciding on the finished stance.
Mounts, seats and alignment
Have worn mounting parts and spring pads assessed. Confirm retained hardware and arrange the geometry around the agreed running height.

The current B14 reference is 47-264625 for the listed AWD, non-electronic B3 applications. The manufacturer catalogue gives approximately 30 to 50mm front and rear, subject to axle limits and application conditions. Check the useful change from the car’s present Alpina suspension or earlier lowering springs before agreeing a finished height.

Questions about Alpina B3 F30 / F31 coilovers.
Check the details before choosing your kit.
Which kit is currently listed for the Alpina B3 F30 and F31?
The current selection is Bilstein B14 47-264625. Its Alpina rows name specific BiTurbo and S BiTurbo AWD saloons and Tourings without electronic suspension control. Check the exact build and equipment before ordering.
Does that listing cover my factory adaptive Alpina suspension?
The listing’s stated condition is without electronic suspension control. Alpina’s April 2013 brochure describes adaptive dampers, so the actual car needs a specific check. Do not assume a cancellation plug or an earlier conversion settles compatibility.
Can I order the same kit for a rear-wheel-drive B3?
Do not select the AWD reference for a rear-wheel-drive car. Bilstein’s manufacturer catalogue separates the RWD reference from 47-264625. Ask us to check the exact vehicle and available package.
Are the rear spring and damper separate on this B3?
Yes. The rear main spring occupies its own seat beside the damper. The Alpina parts references list them separately, and the Bilstein instructions show separate rear damper and spring-height assemblies. Confirm the actual supplied hardware for the order.
Can I adjust damping on the listed B14?
B14 has fixed damping. Its height adjustment is not a damping control. If adjustable damping is part of your brief, discuss that requirement before choosing the package.
Does 30 to 50mm mean that much extra lowering from my present height?
No. The catalogue figure comes with application and baseline conditions. Original Alpina suspension, previous springs, loads and wheel clearance affect the useful change on your particular car. Establish the current height before agreeing a target.
What should I check on an F31 Touring?
Keep the Touring build dates, drivetrain and axle limits in the application check. Include the luggage and passenger loads you use, and confirm the original damper system and rear spring hardware.
Will the registration finder identify an earlier adaptive-damper conversion?
The finder helps identify the vehicle. Tell us separately about the dampers and springs actually fitted, earlier electronic changes, wheels and spacers so they can be included in the fitment enquiry.
Let’s talk suspension.
Find your B3, then tell us whether it is a saloon or Touring, AWD or rear-wheel drive, and which dampers are fitted. Include the axle plate and wheel details so we can check the actual package.
