Mazda CX-5 KF.
The coilover guide.
Shop the coiloversThe listed BC N-37 kit names KF2P. Choose its BR RS or RM MA configuration after identifying your car, then set the running height around the wheels, passengers and roads it has to carry.
A quieter cabin for the second generation.
A lowered KF can still be the car that takes the family away for a week. Work out the wheel clearance and suspension movement it needs with passengers and luggage before choosing the parked stance. A height that clears an empty driveway may feel very different with a loaded boot.
There is one current N-37 listing here, with two selectable configurations. BR RS names rubber top mounts; RM MA names inverted front dampers and rubber rear mounting. Those are useful details to discuss with the installer once the full chassis and application are confirmed.
Mazda revealed the new CX-5 in November 2016 for the 2017 model. It retained the five-seat SUV format, with a more restrained body design and a cabin intended to make longer journeys quieter. The engineering changes included larger front damper pistons and liquid-filled front suspension bushes. Petrol and diesel engines, gearboxes and driven-wheel choices depended on the market. Mazda's July 2025 announcement describes the CX-5 as its best-selling model since 2018.
The 2022 update revised the grille, lighting and suspension. An early car and a facelift KF can look quite different at the nose, so identify the chassis and build date before using a photograph or registration year to choose parts. The third generation announced in July 2025 is a further change: the open-ended 2017+ wording in an older kit title does not establish compatibility with it.
For a road-going KF, decide whether the aim is a modest change in stance, a different wheel package or a more involved suspension project. Put the actual tyre size, wheel offset and normal load into that decision. They determine what the fitter needs to inspect alongside the new suspension.

N-37: the named KF2P application
BC's maker table names KF2P, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, in its 2017 to 2025 N-37 entry. The current selector offers BR RS and RM MA. Confirm the full chassis, engine, build date and driven wheels against the chosen configuration.

Early KF, facelift or the next generation?
Use the lighting and grille to help recognise an early or updated KF, then confirm its identity from the chassis. The later third-generation CX-5 needs a separate application check; a recent registration alone cannot tell you which suspension kit fits.

A different chassis code or market
For a code outside the named KF2P application, provide the full identification, engine, original market and build date. Imported petrol, diesel or turbo badges are useful background, but the kit still needs checking against the particular car.

Changed wheels, arms or mounting parts
Tell us about wheel widths, offsets, tyres and spacers, plus any altered arms or suspension mounting parts. Include how the car is normally loaded and the height you want to achieve so the fitting discussion starts with the car as it is now.

Read the buying advice
N-37 BR RS is the road starting example for the named KF2P application, with rubber top mounts listed in the selector. Ask which mounting parts and springs are supplied, and which original parts must be reused. Keep useful suspension movement for the roads you drive, then check ramps, speed humps and tyre clearance at the agreed running height. Discuss likely changes in ride and cabin noise with the fitter when choosing the package.
- Confirm the KF2P application
- Inspect clearance at normal load
- Agree mounts, springs and fitting parts
Discuss the inverted-front RM construction for your intended tyres.
Read the buying advice
The current RM MA option names inverted front dampers and rubber rear mounting. Consider that construction alongside the spring specification, tyres and amount of road use you intend to keep. BR can also form part of that discussion. Agree a starting setup, record it and assess changes separately so you can tell what each adjustment did.
- Verify the exact RM MA option
- Discuss the tyre and spring package
- Record a repeatable starting setup
Specify the complete car before choosing the suspension package.
Read the buying advice
A circuit project needs a more detailed brief: intended event, tyres, operating weight with driver and fuel, and any altered arms or mounting points. Discuss the spring and damper requirements with the fitter, including available movement, adjuster access and servicing. Agree a complete suspension specification before ordering the parts for that build.
- Provide event and operating weight
- Identify altered suspension hardware
- Agree movement and servicing needs
Multi-link rear suspension, separate spring and damper.
On a standard Mazda CX-5 KF, the rear spring and damper are mounted separately.
Component layout only. Mounts, dimensions and adjusters vary by kit.The KF has MacPherson struts at the front and independent multi-link suspension at the rear. The rear spring sits on its own seats beside the damper. That is why a complete kit described as coilovers can still have separate rear springs and dampers.
Have the installer follow the exact kit's instructions for the rear spring platforms, pads and damper length. Check spring location and retention through the required movement. Have the alignment measured once the installation has settled, using the correct adjustments for the car.
Understand spring height and preload
A parked arch gap is only the starting check.
Give the installer the wheel width, offset, tyre size and any spacer thickness. Clearance needs checking beside the strut and around the arch as the front wheels steer and the suspension moves. At the rear, allow for the people and luggage the car normally carries. An unloaded photograph cannot show whether that package clears through movement.
Inspect the mounts, bearings, spring pads and suspension bushes while planning the work. Agree what the kit supplies and what needs renewing, then set the height and arrange a settled alignment. Keep the measurements and alignment record so later wheel or height changes have a useful reference.
Wheels and the inner strut gap
A wider wheel and a different offset can alter clearance on both sides of the tyre. Record the complete wheel and tyre specification, including spacers, and check the front strut as well as the outer arch through steering and movement.
Mounts and rear spring hardware
The BR RS and RM MA selector labels differ. Confirm the exact supplied mounting parts, bearings and rear spring seats instead of assuming the packages contain identical hardware. Agree how the rear damping adjusters will be accessed.
Passengers, luggage and running height
Tell the fitter how the KF is used on an ordinary week and when fully loaded. Choose a running height that leaves useful travel and clearance for those conditions, including the rear tyres and the driveway entrances you use.
Bushes and alignment
Worn bushes or damaged arms need attention before a new setup can be assessed properly. Obtain an alignment record after fitting and settling, and have it checked again when a later change in height or hardware calls for it.

Questions about Mazda CX-5 KF coilovers.
Check the details before choosing your kit.
Which CX-5 does BC N-37 name?
The maker application lists the second-generation CX-5 KF2P, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, in its 2017 to 2025 entry. Confirm the full chassis, engine and build date against the chosen configuration. The CX-5 badge alone does not establish fitment.
What is the difference between the listed BR RS and RM MA options?
BR RS lists rubber top mounts. RM MA lists inverted front dampers with rubber rear mounting. Confirm the supplied springs, mounts and fitting requirements for the exact configuration before choosing.
Does the 2017+ kit title include the new third-generation CX-5?
The N-37 application names KF2P. The third-generation car announced in 2025 needs its own kit application check. Use the full chassis and build date to identify the generation before selecting suspension.
Can the earlier CX-5 KE use the same N-37 kit?
Keep the applications separate. The listed earlier KE kit has BC reference N-24 and names KE2FW, KE2AW and KEEFW. Use the relevant generation guide and the complete chassis identification before selecting a configuration.
Are the KF rear springs separate from the dampers?
Yes. The KF has independent multi-link rear suspension with the spring on separate seats beside the damper. Follow the selected kit's instructions for spring platforms, pads, damper length and retention checks.
How low should I set a road-going KF?
Choose a height within the exact kit's instructions that leaves useful travel and clearance for the wheels, roads and loads you use. Have the fitter check steering lock and suspension movement, and consider passengers, luggage, speed humps and driveway ramps. There is no single drop suitable for every setup.
Does the registration finder confirm that N-37 fits?
The finder helps identify the car. The full chassis, engine, driven wheels, build date and any altered suspension hardware still need matching against the kit application. Provide the original market for an import.
What fitting work should I plan alongside the coilovers?
Confirm supplied and reused hardware, inspect mounts, bearings, spring pads and bushes, and check wheel and tyre clearance through movement. Agree the running height and arrange an alignment after fitting and settling. Keep those settings for later changes.
Let’s talk suspension.
Use the finder, then include the full chassis, build date, engine and driven wheels. Add the wheel package and any altered suspension parts so we can check the exact kit and fitting requirements.
