Lowering a three-row CX-80 starts with its full chassis code and the loads it carries. The current BC kit names KL3R3P AWD; other versions need their own application check.

Three rows, a longer wheelbase and its own suspension tune.

A modest drop and carefully chosen wheels can give the CX-80 a more settled stance. Decide how much clearance you need with passengers aboard before settling on a height. Include the entrances, ramps and rough roads the car uses, especially if it spends weekends carrying luggage as well.

BC Racing N-47 BR RS is the listed kit for the named KL3R3P AWD application. Have the complete chassis, engine, build date and original market ready when checking it. A PHEV or another diesel version needs confirmation even when the body looks identical.

Mazda introduced the CX-80 in 2024 as a three-row SUV on its longitudinal Large Platform. Its longer rear doors and extended cabin distinguish it from the two-row CX-60. The extra space also changes the brief for a modified road car: a height chosen with an empty cabin still has to work when the seats and boot are in use.

The two models share their basic double-wishbone front and multi-link rear architecture. Mazda retuned the CX-80's chassis for its longer wheelbase and greater weight, including changes to springs, dampers and subframe bushes. Similar-looking suspension underneath does not establish that their aftermarket kits interchange.

Wheel choice and a restrained ride height are useful places to start with this relatively recent model. Keep the original tyre and wheel details alongside the proposed replacements, then discuss the combination with the installer. If the aim is to reduce a particular pitch or ride movement, describe when it happens so the suspension choice addresses that concern.

For an occasional circuit outing, begin by confirming that the organiser accepts the vehicle. Discuss tyre choice, operating load and the intended driving with the installer. The same N-47 kit is the current application example; there is no separate track-day specification listed here. Keep a record of the agreed settings so later adjustments have a clear starting point.

A dedicated project needs a suspension specification agreed around the completed car. Provide the event rules, operating weight, tyres and any changed mounting points or arms. The installer needs to consider available travel and servicing as well as spring and damper requirements. No separate competition package is verified in the current CX-80 range, so discuss the build before buying parts.

Component layout only. Mounts, dimensions and adjusters vary by kit.

On the named KL3R3P CX-80, the rear coil spring sits around the shock absorber. Mazda's multi-link layout describes the arms locating the wheel; the spring and damper form a coaxial assembly. The compact drawing identifies their positions.

Follow the selected kit's instructions for spring seats, mounting hardware and adjustment. Confirm which original components are reused and how the adjusters will be reached after installation. A component layout cannot establish another engine or market's kit compatibility.

Check the wheels with the car's everyday job in mind.

Bring the current wheel and tyre sizes and the specification of any planned replacements. The installer needs to assess clearance to the suspension and bodywork through steering and suspension movement. A torch inspection beside a parked car can identify obvious concerns, but it does not replace those checks.

Explain the usual passenger and luggage loads before agreeing a running height. Include awkward driveways or ramps, and towing if relevant. Have the existing suspension and mounting parts inspected, then arrange the final alignment and keep its measurement record.

Wheel width and tyre clearance

Offset and spacers affect where the wheel sits. Give the fitter the tyre size and load rating too, then check the complete combination at the intended height through steering and suspension movement.

Mounting parts and adjuster access

The listed N-47 package is BR RS. Confirm the supplied top mounts and any original parts that must be reused. Follow the exact kit's instructions and agree how the installed damping adjusters will be reached.

Passengers, luggage and towing

Use the vehicle's load limits when planning the setup, and describe its regular use. If it tows, include the normal towing arrangement in the discussion. Lowering does not establish a different approved carrying capacity.

Alignment after fitting

Agree the usable height before the final alignment. Ask for the before-and-after measurements and an explanation of the available adjustment. Keep details of altered arms or mounting points with that record.

Questions about Mazda CX‑80 KL coilovers.

Check the details before choosing your kit.

Which CX-80 does BC Racing N-47 name?

BC lists the 2024-on CX-80 AWD with chassis KL3R3P. The current product is BR RS. Confirm the complete chassis, engine, build date and original market before ordering.

Does the KL3R3P listing cover PHEV or other diesel versions?

Those applications need individual confirmation. Provide the complete chassis and engine details, including the original market for an import. The shared CX-80 body does not establish kit compatibility.

Can I use a CX-60 coilover kit on a CX-80?

The current CX-80 listing names N-47 for KL3R3P. Match that exact application rather than transferring a kit from the related CX-60. Mazda gave the longer CX-80 its own chassis tuning.

Are the CX-80's rear springs separate from the dampers?

On the named KL3R3P, the rear spring surrounds the shock absorber. Follow the chosen kit's instructions for the spring seats, mounts and adjustments.

What should I tell the fitter about passengers and luggage?

Describe the car's normal loading and include towing if it applies. The fitter needs to assess the intended height and available movement against the vehicle's limits and everyday use.

How low should I set my CX-80?

Choose a height within the exact kit's instructions that leaves suitable clearance and movement with your wheels and normal loads. Have the installer check steering, suspension movement and the driveways or ramps you use.

What mounting parts should I check before fitting N-47?

Confirm the supplied BR RS top mounts, spring seats and any original components that must be reused. Ask how the installed damping adjusters will be reached. Use the instructions supplied with the exact kit.

Does the number plate finder confirm coilover fitment?

The finder helps identify the vehicle. The full chassis, engine and original market still need matching against the kit, with wheel changes and other suspension modifications included in the check.
