Mazda CX‑90 KK.
The coilover guide.
Shop the coiloversA CX-90 suspension setup has to work with its wide body, three rows and normal loads. Start with the exact KK AWD application, then plan the height around the car you use.
Mazda's wide three-row SUV, introduced for 2024.
If you want to bring the wheels and arches closer together, decide what clearance the CX-90 needs on a normal journey first. Passengers, luggage and the ramps at home all affect the height you can use. Take the wheel specification into that discussion before ordering suspension.
BC Racing N-48 BR RS is the current listed kit for the 2024-on KK AWD application. For an imported car, have its original market and complete chassis details ready. Check the engine, build date and factory suspension with us, particularly for a PHEV or a version that differs from the named application.
Mazda revealed the CX-90 in January 2023 for the 2024 model year. It was developed around a wide three-row body and a longitudinal platform, with rear-biased all-wheel drive. North American launch choices included a turbocharged straight-six mild hybrid and a separate four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The CX-90 belongs to Mazda's Large Product Group, alongside the CX-60 and CX-80. Mazda planned the CX-70 and CX-90 mainly for North America and other markets. That matters when identifying an import: a similar model name, platform or body shape cannot confirm an aftermarket suspension application.
For a modified road car, begin with the jobs it still needs to do. Wheel choice, a modest drop and an alignment can be planned around regular passengers and travel. If you are trying to change a particular ride movement, describe the road and load when it happens. That gives the fitter a useful brief beyond a photograph of the stance you like.

PHEV and market-specific versions
Provide the engine, build date and full chassis details, with the original market for an import. A KK model label alone does not confirm every PHEV, trim or later suspension revision.

Passengers, travel and towing
Tell us how often the third row and luggage space are used. If the car tows, include that in the brief and use the vehicle's own load limits when discussing a suitable height with the installer.

Wheels and existing modifications
Include wheel width, offset, tyre size and any spacers. Add details of changed arms, mounts or previous suspension work so the fitter can check the combination through its required movement.

Read the buying advice
N-48 BR RS is the current example for the named KK AWD application. Discuss its mounting package and the parts the fitter will reuse. Agree a height with room for the tyres and normal loads, then arrange the final alignment once that height is set. Adjust damping from the kit's instructed starting point and keep a record of changes.
- Match the exact KK AWD application
- Allow for normal passenger loads
- Agree height before final alignment
Confirm the event accepts the car before planning a circuit setup.
Read the buying advice
Ask the organiser about vehicle restrictions first. If the car is accepted, discuss the intended running, tyre specification and operating load with the fitter. The same N-48 kit is the current application example, with no separate track-day version listed here. Suspension changes alone cannot establish the car's suitability for an event.
- Check the organiser's vehicle rules
- Discuss tyres and operating load
- Record the agreed settings
Agree the build specification before choosing suspension parts.
Read the buying advice
Bring the event regulations and describe changes to the vehicle's weight, tyres and suspension mounting points. A specialist needs to assess travel, spring and damper requirements and servicing around that completed specification. There is no separately verified competition package in the current CX-90 range. Discuss the project before treating a road kit as the answer.
- Provide the intended regulations
- Describe the completed chassis
- Agree travel and servicing needs
The rear spring sits around the damper.
The rear spring surrounds the damper on a standard Mazda CX‑90 KK (2024).
Component layout only. Mounts, dimensions and adjusters vary by kit.The 2024 CX-90 has a rear spring surrounding its shock absorber. Mazda's multi-link description refers to the arms that locate the wheel; it does not mean the spring has a separate seat elsewhere on the suspension. The drawing identifies the spring and damper positions.
Use the selected kit's instructions to confirm the seats, mounting parts and any original components that remain. Ask how the installed adjusters will be reached. Match the whole car to the kit before using a component layout to plan the installation.
Understand ride height and preload
Check the wheel package and the load together.
A parked inspection can reveal obvious tyre or arch concerns. The fitter still needs to check clearance to bodywork and suspension through steering and suspension movement at the proposed height. Take the full specification of the current wheels and any replacements, including spacers and tyre load ratings.
Plan that height around regular use of the third row, luggage and towing where relevant. Include awkward entrances and ramps. Have existing mounts and suspension parts inspected before fitting, then keep the final alignment measurements with the car's setup record.
Wheel width, offset and tyres
Check the whole package at the intended height. Offset and spacers change the wheel's position, while tyre size and load rating remain part of the specification the fitter needs.
Mounts and adjustment access
Confirm the supplied BR RS mounting parts and anything the kit reuses. Agree access to the installed adjusters and follow the exact kit's instructions for height and spring settings.
Third-row use and towing
Describe the car's usual passengers and luggage, including any towing use. Keep the vehicle's load limits in the discussion. Lowering does not establish a higher carrying or towing capacity.
Alignment and follow-up checks
Set a usable height before the final alignment. Ask what adjustment is available and retain the before-and-after measurements, together with details of any changed arms or mounting points.

Questions about Mazda CX‑90 KK coilovers.
Check the details before choosing your kit.
Which CX-90 application does BC Racing N-48 name?
BC lists the 2024-on Mazda CX-90 AWD with chassis KK. The current product is BR RS. Check the complete chassis, engine, build date and original market before ordering.
Does a KK listing confirm fitment for every CX-90 PHEV?
The broad KK application needs checking against the exact powertrain, build date and market. Provide those details for a PHEV or another version that differs from the named kit application.
Are the 2024 CX-90's rear springs separate from the dampers?
The rear spring surrounds the shock absorber. Multi-link describes the wheel-locating arms. Follow the selected kit's instructions for spring seats, mounts and adjustments.
Should I set the height with passengers and luggage in mind?
Yes. Explain the car's normal loading to the fitter and include towing if relevant. The intended height needs suitable clearance and movement within the vehicle's limits.
Are compression and rebound adjusted separately on the listed BR kit?
BC describes the BR damping control as adjusting compression and rebound together. It is not independent adjustment of the two. Confirm the supplied kit's instructions and keep a record of settings.
What wheel details should I provide before fitting coilovers?
Include wheel diameter, width and offset, tyre size and load rating, and any spacers. Add details of altered arms or mounts so the fitter can assess the whole combination through its required movement.
Does the number plate finder prove CX-90 coilover fitment?
The finder helps identify the vehicle. Its full chassis, engine and original market still need matching to the kit, with wheel changes and other modifications included in the check.
