Coilovers or lowering springs?

Choose around the height adjustment and damper changes your car actually needs.

Decide what you want to change

A conventional lowering-spring set changes the springs while using suitable existing or replacement dampers. A coilover kit normally brings matched springs and dampers with a way to adjust ride height. The exact contents still depend on the application, especially at an axle with separate springs.

If your aim is a defined drop with few adjustments, compare the spring option and damper compatibility first. If you need to choose the finished height or change the damping specification, check what the available coilover kits actually allow. Some have fixed damping; height adjustment does not imply an adjustable damper.

Check the dampers you are keeping

A spring-only purchase leaves the condition and compatibility of the dampers to resolve. Give us their part codes if they are aftermarket, and tell us about factory electronic damping. Avoid treating a new spring as a way of renewing a worn damper.

An adjustable spring-perch system used with original dampers is another possible product type. It has different contents from a complete coilover kit. Read the application notes before comparing prices.

Budget for the fitted setup

Compare complete costs, including any required mounts or electronic-damper parts, fitting and alignment. Think about the height you can use on your roads and driveway as well as the appearance in a photograph. A headline lowering figure needs the correct axle and vehicle specification to be meaningful.

Give us the car and the target

Send the year, chassis, present suspension and intended use. Tell us whether you want to retain factory damping controls and whether a particular finished height matters. We can explain the listed coilover options and check the complete combination before you order. This site’s product pages show the selected kit and its current configuration choices.
