Product information

BC Racing Coilovers Mini Cooper Wspacer are a vehicle-specific damper and spring package, sold as a complete four-corner kit. Chassis code R55/R56. Fits 07-13 cars. Default spring rates are front 5.5 kg/mm / rear 5 kg/mm. The height adjustment runs on a separate lower bracket, so you can drop the car without winding preload into the spring. Ride quality stays where the damper valving put it rather than getting progressively harsher the lower you go. Check the selected kit code. The kit code is the BC Racing part number for that build. Configuration Kit code Top mount BR Series - RH (Recommended): Pillowball top mounts T-02-BR-RH as listed RM Series - MA: Inverted front / rubber rear T-02-RM-MA as listed ER Series - 2-way adjustable, external reservoir T-02-ER as listed ZX Series T-02-ZX as listed Which series for the Mini Cooper (W/Spacer Might Be Needed Br/Er)? BR Series gives you 30-way damping adjustment and full height adjustment independent of spring preload. RM Series gives you a race-oriented build with inverted damper bodies. ER Series gives you external reservoirs for more consistent damping under sustained load. ZX Series is designed for racing and track use, with three-way damping adjustment. Spring rates and what is in the box This kit ships at 5.5 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear. The rates are matched front to rear for a balanced setup on the road. Rates are chosen by BC Racing per application, so they suit a fast road and occasional track car as supplied. If the car is built for something more specific, a track car or a car carrying a lot of aero, the rates can be changed without replacing the dampers. The kit covers all four corners and includes the dampers, springs, lower brackets, locking collars and the adjuster spanners. Top mounts depend on the configuration you pick from the table above. Anything that is worn on the car already, drop links, bushes, top mount bearings, is worth checking while the suspension is apart. Fitting and setting up BC Racing Coilovers Mini Cooper Wspacer Set the height first, settle the suspension by rolling the car, measure, then adjust. Only book the alignment once the ride height is final, because camber and toe both move as the car comes down. Start with the damping adjusters in the middle of their range and work from there. Wind towards firm for track work and back off for road use, changing one end of the car at a time so you can feel what each change did. The kit is rebuildable and the springs are a standard ID, so a rate change later is a spring swap rather than a new set of coilovers. Worth reading if you are new to this: how a coilover works and why height and preload are separate adjustments. BC Racing Coilovers Mini Cooper Wspacer questions Will BC Racing Coilovers Mini Cooper Wspacer fit without modification? The kit is cut to the Mini Cooper (W/Spacer Might Be Needed Br/Er) damper and strut dimensions and uses the standard mounting points on the R55/R56 chassis. Check the listed fitting requirements for this application before installation. How low will the Mini Cooper (W/Spacer Might Be Needed Br/Er) go on these? Height is adjustable across the full range of the lower bracket. How low you can usefully run depends on your wheel and tyre size and how the car is used, so set it to suit how the car is actually used. What spring rates do BC Racing Coilovers Mini Cooper Wspacer come with? Front: 5.5 kg/mm / Rear: 5 kg/mm as standard. The springs are a standard ID, so rates can be changed later without replacing the dampers. Do I need an alignment afterwards? Yes. Camber and toe both move as the car comes down, so book the alignment once the ride height is set and the suspension has settled. Are these road legal? Adjustable suspension is legal for road use in the UK. Keep the ride height sensible, make sure nothing fouls at full lock or full compression, and tell your insurer the car has been modified. Not sure which top mount option you need? Send us the reg and how the car gets used and we will confirm the BC Racing Coilovers Mini Cooper Wspacer spec. More from this range: BC Racing coilovers . This kit: ZX Series

Damping adjustment

Damping controls how quickly the suspension moves. A combined control changes compression and rebound together. Separate controls let you adjust them independently. More controls mean more setup choices; they do not guarantee a better ride.

Spring rates

A spring-rate pair normally lists front, then rear. Keep the unit shown on the kit specification: kgf/mm (often written kg/mm) and N/mm are different units. The right rate depends on the car and setup. Ask us before choosing a custom rate or changing springs.

Read the illustrated guide
Top mounts

Some kits reuse the original mounts; others include rubber or pillowball mounts. Camber adjustment depends on the mount and suspension layout. Check the exact configuration rather than assuming the representative photograph shows every included part.

Electronic / adaptive dampers

If your car has factory electronic damping, tell us before ordering. The kit may retain that function, require an additional compatible cancellation solution, or have a specific exclusion. The correct answer depends on the vehicle and exact kit.

Ride height and installation

Lowering ranges and required parts vary by application. Read the kit notes and use a qualified installer. Changes to ride height affect alignment, so ask your installer to check the setup after installation.
